100 Miles

BY JEFF REDMON/BREAKTHROUGH IMPACT GROUP

I did it!

I have finally achieved a BiG personal goal.

I completed 100 miles in a single day, taking on the Lake Wobegon Regional Trail.

7 hours in the saddle at just over 14mph.

100 miles might not seem like much to you but to me it was everything.

I started 2021 with a blood infection that caused my body to shut down.

My heart stopped for 14 seconds.

After surgery, I had to do cardiac rehab.

In just six months, I went from struggling to ride 15 minutes to completing 7 hours and 100 miles.

I want to thank the amazing support I had from my health care team and my German Cardiologist.

They reminded me of the German saying, Unkraut verwelkt nie.
“Weeds Never Die.”

Since then I have adopted the thistle as my official flower.

It’s a handsome purple color, a bit prickly, incredibly persistent, and very hard to eradicate.
